Annual CNY Cake Decorating Competion
Competition Celebrates Cakes, Creativity
Cakes are the centerpiece of the many family-friendly events that make up the Third Annual CNY Cake Competition on October 1 from 11 AM-5 PM. The Competition features the 2011 Cake Decorating Competition and the King Arthur Flour Cupcake Baking Contest, with cake-decorating demonstrations and more. Other activities include the baking-product vendor fair, samples from LeGarden Bakery, the Quick Decorating Challenge and AC Moore’s Make-N-Take kids’ crafts. “Our event is a great day of fun for the entire family,” says Julie Ehrentraut of CNY Cake Decorating. “We depend on the community to come out and vote on their favorite cakes as we do give a People’s Choice Award. Our event draws people in from the surrounding states and as far away as the Midwest.”
The Cake Decorating Competition includes entries from 7-year-olds to professional bakers, and the Cupcake Baking Contest includes entries from 13-year-olds and up. “As a participant first and foremost you need to focus on just having fun doing what you do best baking and decorating cakes,” explains Ehrentraut. “The deadline to register is September 25th. Your cake and cupcakes should be made and decorated at home and brought to the competition to be put on display. You will then have from 9:30-11:00 to make any finishing touches to your piece.” Registration for participation can be done online at www.cnycakedecorating.com.
