Ithaca Residents Invest in Themselves and Their Community by Losing For Good

Posted

At least 1 in 10 families in the U.S. do not have access to needed food supplies, according to the Department of Agriculture.  To help fight this hunger epidemic, Weight Watchers is launching its 2nd Annual Lose for Good Campaign on August 30th.  Over the next seven weeks, Lose for Good participants working to a healthy weight will also give back to their communities through local food drives.  As members invest in their health and their community, Weight Watchers will donate up to one million dollars to two hunger fighting charities, Share Our Strength and Action Against Hunger.  Local food donations will be sent to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.

Over a six week period last year, participants lost an impressive four million pounds, conducted over 2,000 local food drives, and donated 1.5 million pounds of food to food banks nationwide.  To cap it all off, Weight Watchers donated one million dollars to Share Our Strength and Action Against Hunger.  This year, participants hope to do even more good by surpassing those numbers!

This campaign will be taking place from August 30th to October 17th.  To get more information on how to get involved, please visit www.loseforgood.com.
