Pets Meet and Play at The Shops at Ithaca Mall

On April 16th, 2011, pets and their families are invited to a day of play, socializing and education.  During the 2011 Pet Expo, presented by Bubbles and Bows, pets will be able to enjoy the common areas of The Shops at Ithaca Mall, except the Food Court, and meet other pets.  There will be a free Pet Expo raffle in the afternoon, with prizes like a comprehensive exam, lyme and heartworm test and vaccination from Briar Patch Veterinary Hospital and a pet first aid kit from Paws-2-Play.  In addition, the first 300 pets and their owners to attend the Pet Expo will receive a complementary gift bag. 

During the Bubbles and Bows Luau party, dogs will try games like Simon Says, where they and their owners will attempt a series of basic dog tricks, and the last dog standing wins.  In Musical Mats, dogs will need to sit on a mat before another dog does, when the music stops and a mat is taken away; the last dog sitting when one mat is left wins.  During Puppy Limbo, dogs will walk and later crawl under a limbo pole, and the dog that crawls the lowest wins.  There is a $5 cover charge for the games, and every dog that plays will receive a free beach ball, a baggie of goodies and more.  Tickets will be on sale for the Bubbles and Bows raffle; the winner will receive a $50 gift card. 

Dan the Snakeman’s Educational Show will feature reptiles like alligators and pythons.  People will be able to view and touch the animals.  He will teach which exotic animals make good pets, and about their environmental importance in the wild.  

All pets brought to the Pet Expo must be well-behaved domestic animals, either in pet carriers or on leashes not exceeding 6 feet long, and must be supervised by their owners at all times.  Supporting sponsors of the Pet Expo are Paws-2-Play, Briar Patch Veterinary Hospital, Pampered Pets and Cayuga Radio Group.  Paws-2-Play is an in-home pet-sitting service.  Briar Patch Veterinary Hospital provides complete preventative healthcare, surgery, pain-management and dental care to dogs, cats, birds and exotic pets.  Pampered Pets offers a wide variety of pet supplies and products, and a do-it-yourself dog-grooming center.  For more information, visit www.theshopsatithacamall.com or call (607)257-5337.
