Community Gets New Chances from Old Treasures
The Ithaca SERTOMA Club, the Franziska Racker Center and other local organizations are about to get new opportunities from vintage wares. The 2011 Spring SERTOMA Antique Show is coming to The Shops at Ithaca Mall March 25th, 26th and 27th, and all of its sales will support local nonprofit organizations. “All of the money we take in goes back to the community,” Lee Newhart of the Ithaca SERTOMA Club explains. “Some of us spend money out of our own pockets for advertising and similar things.”
More than a dozen booths will offer thousands of items like quality furniture and ‘smalls’—costume and estate jewelry, glassware, stoneware, china and more. New to the antique show this year, are vintage records and jackets from the 1940’s, ‘50’s and ‘60’s. The Ithaca SERTOMA Club supports the SERvice TO MAnkind Foundation, whose primary mission is to help the hearing and speech impaired. Also supported by the Ithaca SERTOMA club are the Franziska Racker Center, an annual nursing scholarship, Cinderella Softball, Hospicare & Palliative Services of Tompkins County, and various community projects.
