SerToMa, Camp Show and Red Cross Aid Tompkins County
Ithaca, NY – This weekend April 26-28 local nonprofit organizations and businesses will come together in three events to benefit the local community. The SerToMa Antique Show will take place Friday through Sunday April 26-28 with a variety of vintage items, “the rare and the unusual,” says Lee Newhart, to raise money for local nonprofit organizations. Visitors of the Ithaca SerToMa (Service To Mankind) Club’s biannual Antique Show can find vintage vinyl records, costume and estate jewelry, antique furniture and ‘smalls’ like glassware and lamps. “It’s a good show with good quality goods,” asserts Newhart of the Ithaca SerToMa Club. The main beneficiary of the Antique Show will be the Franziska Racker Center, with Cinderella Softball and Ithaca High School’s nursing scholarship also receiving proceeds. “Everything we raise at the Show goes back to the community,” Newhart states. The Show will be held Friday 10 AM-9 PM, Saturday 10 AM-9 PM and Sunday 11 AM-6 PM throughout The Shops at Ithaca Mall.
On Saturday, April 27 parents and preschool to college-age young people can discover more than 15 camps and summer programs involving sports, nature, the arts and the local community at the Camp Show. Exhibitors will include the Hangar Theatre, the City of Ithaca Program, the Ithaca Swim Club, the YMCA, Seishi Karate and local 4-H and Scout programs. “What is it, where is it, what does it offer? Bring your questions,” says Jim Graney of the Ithaca Child newspaper. “Parents are encouraged to know what their [summer] schedule is, what their child’s interests are and be prepared to sign up before programs are full.” Families can sign up for programs at the Camp Show from 10 AM-3 PM at The Shops at Ithaca Mall, or take information home.
The Red Cross Food Drive will continue to accept non-perishable food donations from now through the end of April, to benefit the Tompkins County Red Cross. Donations for the Red Cross Food Drive may be placed in the specially-marked box by the Customer Service Center located by American Eagle and Footlocker. The most needed food items include canned meats like tuna and chicken, boxed or canned soups, canned fruits and veggies, rice, pasta, and peanut butter.
