Wedding Expo Creates and Renews Opportunities
Engaged and married couples can enjoy opportunities to prepare for lasting marriage. The Spring 2012 Wedding Expo and Re-Newlywed Day will be held Saturday, February 25 from 10 AM-5 PM. This free event with more than 50 vendors is open to the public, and will be held at The Shops at Ithaca Mall. During Re-Newlywed Day, presented by AAA, 50 participating couples can renew their wedding vows at the Mall. One participating couple will win an all-inclusive second honeymoon.

Couples who register will receive complementary gift bags when they sign in, and an entry in the afternoon raffle. Some of the dozens of raffle prizes at the Expo include: a $300 value prize package from The Smooth Entertainment Company and a one-night stay in a luxurious King room at the Hilton Garden Inn of Elmira/Corning. Other prizes include over a dozen gift cards and certificates from Expo businesses.
New to the Expo is Dressellas, offering gently-used prom and bridesmaid dresses. “We have a couple of new dresses, but it’s generally second-hand consignment,” explains Valerie Dedrick of Dressellas. Dressellas will have costume jewelry and tiaras for sale at the Expo, as well as measuring services, and will accept some dresses from ladies who wish to sell them at the Expo. This event is a new kind of opportunity for Dedrick, which means new opportunities for customers. “We just started doing dresses online, and before that we did jewelry online, and now we are trying to talk to brides and moms of brides [at the Expo],” she comments.
Other businesses new to the Expo include Gatherings Restaurant & Event Center, The Smooth Entertainment Company and Ladies of the Lake. Gatherings is offering a free 3-day 2-night stay and buy 1 get 1 airfare for one of seven locations with every wedding booked with them in 2012 and 2013. The Smooth Entertainment Company offers photography, DJ’s, sound systems, lighting and advertising. Ladies of the Lake is a Celtic-style instrumental and singing group.
